English as a Second Language (ESL)

Experience has shown us that the key to successful transition to an Australian education is the school's ESL program.  At Goulburn Valley Grammar School Indonesian students are placed in small groups of two or three students for ESL with an experienced and caring ESL teacher. These classes assist with adjusting to the student's new learning environment, improving English skills and arranging additional help with other subjects.  Classes continue throughout all year levels, including Year 12.

Student Support Services

Airport pick-up on arrival by a member of the school community.

Home Stay Accomodation

Student accommodation at Goulburn Valley Grammar School is on a home stay basis.  This gives students an understanding of Australian family life.  All home stay families are carefully selected by the school.  They have a desire to provide Indonesian students with a pleasant, safe and comfortable living and study environment.  Students will travel to and from the school by private bus transport.  Buses are exclusively for students and bring students directly in to the school property.

About Shepparton

The City of Greater Shepparton is a city of 64,000 people and is situated 180kms (2 hours) north of Melbourne.  It has a full range of professional and commercial services, including two hospitals and several major shopping precincts.  There is public transport within the city and several services each day to and from Melbourne.  It is a vibrant city with many of the benefits of a large city, yet a safe and clean environment in which to live.  Indonesian families will be impressed with Shepparton as the place for their child to spend their secondary school years.

Enrolment Process

To enrol at Goulburn Valley Grammar School, families should contact their nearest Indonesian agent or Mr Kim Stokie, Business Manager, at the school ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).  The attached enrolment form should be completed and copies of previous school reports provided.  A letter offering a place at the school will then be issued.  The school will then apply for the Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (ECOC) from the Department of Immigration and forward this to parents, together with the guardianship letter and tuition fee invoice. 

The visa application process can then commence and your local agent will assist.  The school will also arrange provisional health insurance and a home stay.  Please maintain close contact with the school during this period to monitor the visa application, subject selection and arrival details.
